Recognition
programs are a way for companies to impact the productivity of employees.
Positive reinforcement is a proven way to keep employees motivated
and focused. Recognition for a job well done encourages employees
to strive for optimum performance and maintains corporate morale.
Another important motivator is an incentive program. This progam
is designed to motivate the employee forward to the accomplishment
of a corporate goal.
An example of
the latter is a program that was designed to speed up cash flow
at an insurance company. In this case the corporation was experiencing
slow payment of medicare reimbursements from the US government.
With extra motivation provided through an incentive program that
rewarded employees for improved collections, there was a significant
increase in cash flow. The cost of the promotional program was judged
by the client to be well worth the improved cash flow.
